Terracotta Wellness Workshop Feb. 3-4th at Khamir

KHAMIR will be holding a wellness workshop focusing on the health benefits of cooking with Terracotta from February 3rd to 4th during our Ghadai exhibition. Come and experience what it feels like when your body is nourished from within.

We all know we need to take care of our health. Our health can either support our journey in life, or impede it. Without the support of good health most of our aspirations would be just aspirations. With all the confusing information available out there, it is challenging to do the right thing to achieve our best health.

Sufficiently understanding our bodies and the nutrition we need requires considerable study. The purpose of this immersion workshop is to take the initial steps towards increasing your awareness and getting you started on your journey to good health. We invite you to soak in nourishment and wellbeing. We will spend two days together at the Khamir Campus in the stimulating environment of the exhibition, Ghadai by the Kumbhars of Kachchh, which showcases the Terracotta art of Kachchh.

We will explore ways to understand how cooking in Terracotta vessels is very beneficial to health. We will also explore different cooking techniques with Terracotta vessels and understand from Khamir's artisans how cooking in Terracotta is beneficial. After this workshop we hope that you see the vessels as more than just an earthen pot but as a symbol of the body itself that can be shaped with our own hands.

The health retreat will be on Khamir Campus on 3-4 February, 2015 from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm.
Topics in the workshop include:
     • Understanding the food we eat and its impact on our health
     • Introducing the idea of disease reversal through food
     • Preparing meals
     • Slow cooking with Terracotta vessels
     • Meditation
     • Group discussions

A lot of hands, hearts and a few heads have come together with love to offer this two-day wellness workshop to you in the spirit of Gift Economy. The facilitators bring their expertise, the volunteers offer their labour of love, and we provide the beautiful space.

There will be a basic charge of Rs. 1,000 for both days (1,500 for participants outside of Kutch) that would cover the costs of the materials. Feel free to contribute what value you ascribe over and above that for the rest...
