Unique artisan piece

Ajrakh Textile

by Zubair Khatri

90 inches x 108 inches

It took Zubairbhai one month to make this piece. This textile is a testimony to the history of Ajrakh, incorporating all of the designs that Ajrakh printers use and many of their natural colors. Some of the natural materials he used to dye the cloth include tea, majit, onion skin, and pomegranate! Since bedcovers, sirakhs, are the only thing Khatris make for themselves, Zubairbhai wanted to honor his grandfather by presenting one to our jury.
