I learned our craft by watching my father and other family members in the village working with leather. They were crafting for local Maldhari (cattle herders) and the Bhuj market.
Leather craft is our tradition, but I was never motivated or excited to work until people from Khamir came to our village and held workshops with 10-12 of young artisans in our community. I was selected to be one of the participants. I learned techniques from Phota kaka and Ala Deva on how to do Jari work.
After that workshop I becomae more interested in working with our traditional leather craft. I chose to participate in my craft again, despite the many other options avaiable. Since the training I have done lots of leaver work and made many crafts for the market. I most enjoy making keychains for Khamir and other Bhuj markets.
