Our craft has been handed down in our family for generations. Currently there are three generations working together on our craft, my father, me and my son. My father, Luhar Valimamad Suleman, is a master artisan. He has finely tuned his craft and passed his teachings down to me.
When I was very young, around 8 years old, I was observing all the bell making processes from my father. I became very interested in his craft and started learning this work. I have been doing this work for the last 25 years. I am teaching everything to my son, and soon he will be joining us in mastering the craft.
I have joined many craft exhibitions all over India with my father and now I am begninning to present at exhibitions with my son.
For me, traditional craft practice is my identity and people around here know our family from our work.
